TO MS MIRANDA

DEAR,MS MIRANDA WE WICH YOU A HAPPY RACE AND WE HOPE YOU ACHIVE YOUR GOAL AND THANX FOR ALL YOU DID THIS YEAR.
FROM AMEERA.

happy halloween

As you may know today is Halloween and for 820 is a wild day. first in math they had to take he UNIT 3 TEST for right triangles class 820 ha worked really hard to pass this test and let me say from my point of view i think that class 820 had worked really hard. Also in writing the class had a writing prompt were they had to make believe that they were at their house and that they heard the doorbell and the got up went to the door and looked if it was one of the trick or treaters they got up there was nobody there etc.then we saw a clip from the cartoon show the Simpson's it was really funny. Now in E.L.A the class is taking their quiz and the three things that the quiz was about the ELECTIONS with the our beautiful runners BARACK OBAMA & and JOHN MCCAIN.

The class is having a Halloween party because of their hard work i could say loud and clear that I AM PROUD OF BEING IN CLASS 820!!! well that's all i could say ohhh before i go let me tell you that the class 820 is saying a african movie called "HIDDEN TREASURE" and ameera was the one who brung it here!! well thats all bye and HAPPY HALLOWEEN BOO!!

halloween day/ thank-you note

Today class 820 had a quiz. It was Unit 3 Right Triangle Pythagorean Theorem. To me the quiz was easy because I participated, did all my class and homework. I've improved alot this year. Later on today our class is going to have a party 7th and 8th period. ||we're going to miss you Ms.Skrzypchak.!||. It's going to be very fun. We are also going to have a RAMPS pizza party!! Our class is going to do silent reading and then we are going to have our parties.

From: Karina M. Morales,
Dear Ms. Miranda and Ms. Skrzypchak, I just wanted to write this thank you note because you 2 have tried to make us happy by planing trips, bringing delicious brownies, candy Etc. I just don't think that people appreciate the special things you do for us. So thats why im here saying thank you. There's not that many teachers that you see doing that for their students. Thanks to both of you i've improved a lot especially in math! Thanks for everything & have a great weekend. =]]

Fun Transition Games!

Good Morning 820,

Today we split the class into two sections for math. The group with Ms. Skrzypchak did an excellent job! The majority of the students who stayed in the room did a great job, but a few students were off task which was a disappointment.

We left 10 minutes at the end of class to play 7-up which was a lot of fun, if our behavior is good, we will make time for transition games every day between Math and Writing!

Keep up the good work 820!

Love,

Ms. M and Ms. S

After that we had independent work and the class was so quiet that I heard the other classes.Today math period was the best we had this far in October. This period was fun and easy.

There once was a witch on a broom,Who flew by the light of the moon. But she took a wrong turn,Just outside Bern,And missed Halloween, the buffoon!

"The Ghost"
"Boo", said the ghost,But it really didn't scare,'Cause I couldn't take my eyes,Off his vivid ginger hair. It's really not the same,If head to toe's not white.Well, it isn't going to work,When they try to spook and fright. But he tried and he tried,Even though the cause was lost. And he even sprayed it silver,Like a pumpkin tinged with frost. But I suppose I shouldn't laugh,As he puffs

and sighs and moans. So I told him what to do......a white wig he now owns!

"Wayward Werewolf"
As the moon came up,The wolf sat down.Tonight he can't just roam around. It's just not fair,It can't be right! For mum to keep him in tonight. He should be out,He should be prowling. But instead he sits here scowling. For he's been bad,He's made a mess. He's ripped and torn his sunday best!

halloween for 820!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Halloween is coming for 820 and they are so excited but hey if halloween is coming next week shouldn't class 820 have a halloween party well if class 820 wants a halloween party they are gonna have to earn it. thats why ms.miranda and ms.skrzychak dicided to do a little game they got little cotton balls and if the class gets all the cotton balls in the little countener they get to have the party but if they don't get all the cotton balls and the teachers do then they don't get the party. Will class 820 get all the cotton balls by next thrusday or will the teachers ruin class 820 halloween?

Terrific Test Taking Day!

Hello 820,

We want to congratulate everyone on a very nice day! Everyone did an excellent job on the ELA Predictive exam. This makes us really excited because we can use that information as data to tell us what to teach you from now until January!

We were also really impressed with your work in SS 7th period. You settled down from lunch well, and did a great job. The students who were in the small group began a great discussion that I am excited to continue with tomorrow.

During 8th period Ms. Skrzypchak and I talked to my teacher, Ms. Burr, who came in to visit 7th period. She told us that this classroom felt like a learning environment, and that is because of all the hard work that YOU do. She said that our students were doing really great work, and we all think that you are ready to handle more challenges!

We have the highest expectations for you, and it is your job to do everything in your power to meet and exceed them!

Love,

Ms. Miranda and Ms. Skrzypchak

what we did today

Today we took the E.L.A test today.we had a 5 minute break and ms scryzpchack gave us bars to eat and we streached for the rest of the minutes in class then we continued to work on our test.the test was kind of hard but we tried our best on it.we actually was going to watch a movie but something happened to the computer,so we had free time in class wooo! hooo!

Predictive Test Tomorrow

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen-

Remember, starting today you are expected to read 45 minutes a night, not 30. Expect a phone call home if you consistently read under 45 minutes per night. We have big goals this year, and each of you are capable of making two years of reading growth in just one year. The best way to do this is to READ, BABY READ!

I'm so excited for you to take your ELA predictive tomorrow! It will give us a great opportunity to see your strengths and weaknesses. . . so we can get you ready for the REAL test.

Good work today! You're impressive students.

Go to sleep early. Eat a good breakfast. Relax.

Night :)

Ideas for 820

by Tarra and Karina

I think that this school should have a fund raiser to raise money for an amusement park for the senior trip. I also think that one day class 820 should go camping in Vermont. Our school should have more projects and talent shows for people who loves to sing, act, model, dance, or rap etc. Our schools should have more assemblies and have high school kids come in like the kids from Kappa International did. We should also be able to visit alot of universities and visit some high schools of our choice. There should also be a day that is Twin day or wacky tacky day (a day when we dress colorful) and 70's day ( a day when we dress like the 70s).

I think thats we should probably things like do more surveys for people who like to make decision or don't know what to chose on what people like.

GETTING THE DAY STARTED!

Hi the name is Ramata, and I am going to tell you about today so far.Today is October 17Th 2008,first period.I just took a math test for unit 2.The test was pretty easy to me but the only part I am concern is about my negative and positive signs.well I do think I did great on the test so... I am proud of myself.I couldn't do it with out my teachers{Ms.Miranda and Ms.Skrzypchak}.Next class is writing,to bad we don't switch classes.most other 8Th grade classes switch classes and my class 820 is always in the same room for all 8 periods.after that, were back with Ms.Miranda and Ms.Skrzypchak for E.L.A,Then goes lunch every ones favorite period, other than gym.The day continues for 2 more periods and then were off to home. Thanks for reading my blog,I had fun writing it.Talk to you the next time I post.Peace!!

unit 1 test E.L.A

Today during e.l.a class 820 has taken there very first unit test . the test had two stories the first story was about a boy called Alex who was in the track team and was going vs a guy called Kerry Kendall.People had started rumors that he has been cheating to win the races that he has won in the past. At the end Alex realized that believing every rumor is a bad thing and that you should confront the person that has been talked about and ask if is true.

the other story was about a older brother that had a little brother that was scared of the storm and remembered that when he was a little boy he was scared of the storm and his dad did a little trick for him to overcome his fear of the storms. So the older used the trick on his little brother for he could calm down and overcome his fear of the storms.

From my point of view the class behaved really well and they stood quiet the whole time they were taking the test and they did not interrupt each and of all they showed respect to they teachers by behaving good they whole time they were taking the unit one test!

Lisandro Hernandez

To have respect for some one is to lave and care for them also to not play around when they tell to stop. Also to have respect means to help others in need of care and love I show respect by not coursing in front of an adult or coursing to them the most important way to show respect is to not call out in class to me thats it bye again

Lisandro Hernandez

Today in gym we played flag football and we lost but after the game we went back in the gym. When we left the gym our teachers were waiting for but the class started playing games in th hallway so we came up late to the class room. When we got up to class we had a test waiting for us i finished and started to write this blog post a lot of the kid are still working on their test so bye.

We just wanted to remind you that there are several tests and quizzes coming up in our class!

Tomorrow we will have our first ELA unit test. This test will include two reading passages and a number of questions that cover different reading strategies.

Friday we will have our second Math unit test. This test will include 3 standards: 8.A.1, 8.G.19, and 7.A.5. We will be completing a review sheet tomorrow in class that will be exactly like the test.

Please remember that you are a model class. The only way for us to make 2 years growth in reading and reach 80% mastery of math standards is to focus 100% every day.

Tuesday, October 14th

Welcome Back!

You have a number of assignments to complete tonight.

As a heads up, starting next week you will be required to read 3 steps a night, instead of two. This means that you should read 45 minutes a night, instead of 30. Most of you already read more than that, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Math: Unit 2 Lesson 3 Solving Inequalities Homework
ELA: Complete your Inference Worksheet
Social Studies: None, we will continue Road to Civil War Lesson 4 tomorrow

Community:
-Return your permission slip for Sunday's trip to the High School Fair. If you have a friend in another 8th grade class, they are welcome to come as well. Make sure you let Ms. Miranda or Ms. Skrzypchak know so we can get you a permission slip
-Return your permission slip for the info session for parents (Next Monday at 10am and 6pm)
-BLUE CARDS (turn them in if you haven't done so already.) They were due two weeks ago.

Love,
Ms. Miranda and Ms. Skrzypchak

Flow of the Week:
-Test in ELA on Thursday
-Test in Math on Friday
-Quiz in Social Studies on Friday
-Everyone should be at 77 steps by Friday.

New Seating Arrangement

I hope everyone enjoyed their day off today. Tomorrow is Friday and then we have a three day weekend!

We wanted to let you all know that when you come in tomorrow morning you will see that we have rearranged the desks in our room. We are really excited about the new seats and we think you will love them too! We are going to try a U shape instead of the group seating. Some of your classmates including Kenny, Lasheeda, Steven, and Saul helped us with this new arrangement.

The important thing to remember is that we want you to learn the most you possibly can every single day. We don't want any distractions in our room because we have a lot of growth to make this year. We are hoping that the new seats will help us all to focus and learn.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning!

Love,

Ms. Miranda

By Tarra
When we walk into class in the morning,we have to come to school before 8:05 and when you get to the front door of the class room , you have to shake either Ms.Miranda or Ms.Skrzypchaks hand. You have to make eye contact to the teacher to make sure that you came to school ready to learn. When you come to your seat, you have to take out your homework, planner and your 100 Book Challenge sheet for Ms. Skrzypchak to check it so you can get a grade. All the students have to put their jackets and book bags in the closet.
If you come late to school, you have to just go to your seat and start on your work or to tell your teacher what the class is starting on. When you come late you automatically get 2 ramps points off and will get tracked on a posted board on the window for you to see.

Great Work!

Hi Class!

Very impressive work on the blog today!

You are always welcome to write on the blog! To do so, put a note on the parking lot, and include the topic you are going to write about. You can write about nearly anything you want!

For Social Studies, please remember to study up on the two acts we talked about today, the Fugitive Slave Act and the Kansas-Nebraska Act.

The transition at the end of the day was not acceptable. I think Angel's post speaks to that. It is important to note that 95% of you did the right thing. At the end of the day there is a lot going on. You are wrapping up with Science, some people stay for Tempus Ultra, some people stay to ask questions and everyone else is trying to head home. Please remember, if you are staying after..do it respectfully. If you are heading out, leave quickly and quietly. Our room is a safe space, and a space that always needs to be productive. Today, for nearly 15 minutes that was not the case. We can not tolerate that in our classroom. Success always needs to live here.

In other news, my mom sent you all a ton of candy! Expect to see it on your desk in a variety of ways over the next few days (that means do the right thing.)

For the most part, I'm leaving all smiles this afternoon. You guys continue to impress all of us more and more each day. Keep working hard!!

:)

Love,
Ms. Skrzypchak

i learn in social studies was about slavery was very mean because african american was treat it like animals not human .same slave was try to run from there owners but they have to come back to there owners because they people will start looking for them. This is the fugative slave act. that means that if a slave runs away, even to the north, the people have to return the slaves.

MATH UNIT TEST

BY.MARIA FIGUEREO

Know that class 820 has taken their first unit test (unit test 1) they are working on their reflection which is asking questions like how do they fell about the test and also about the past few standards they have been working on like: Verbal expressions (8.a.2), adding and subtracting Integers (7.a.2) solving multi-step equations (7.a.4) these standards have been working with class 820 for the past weeks and have improved throughout the first few weeks of school.

In E.L.A the students in class 820 are working on the 4 types of writing strategies like: 1). inner thinking 2). action 3).dialogue 4).description. In yesterday e.l.a lesson the journal question was how much homework do you think you should have each night?why? DEFEND your thoughts. in my journal i wrote '' I think that the class should have at least 2 homework's per night and no home work on Friday's.

In social studies the class is on working the civil war and the people that have past through it the class is working on a project that have included people that were important to the start of the war in particualr Dred Scott, John Brown and Abraham Lincoln.
